NRW funds road upgrades in Märkischer Kreis and Unna districts

The state of North Rhine‑Westphalia approved €2.56 million in 2026 funding for the Märkischer Kreis to renew four county roads in Neuenrade, Meinerzhagen and Kierspe. The allocation covers €470,000 for the K 28 section in Neuenrade, €800,000 for the K 4 Meinerzhagen‑Möllsiepen stretch, €430,000 for the K 4 Meinerzhagen‑Breddershaus segment and €860,000 for the K 2 section through Kierspe. CDU state MP Matthias Eggers said the investment will improve traffic safety and support local commuters and businesses.

In the same programme, the state earmarked €160 million for municipal road repair across NRW, with the Kreis Unna receiving about €1 million for the K 31 "Massener Straße" project. CDU Kreis Unna spokesperson Vera Volkmann highlighted the road’s importance for mobility and economic strength. Additional federal special‑purpose funds will support a bridge replacement in Schwerte (≈€1.65 million) and a renewal of the K 23 "Baumstraße" in Unna‑Kessebüren (≈€950,000).
