NRW Landgestüt Warendorf celebrates 200 years of history and breeding

The NRW Landgestüt Warendorf is celebrating its 200th anniversary, marking two centuries of its deep connection to the city of Warendorf and its role in horse breeding and equestrian sports. Founded in 1826 by King Frederick William III of Prussia, the stud farm has evolved into a major competence center for horse husbandry alongside the German Riding School.

In a related development at the facility, the Westphalian Studbook and the Trakehner Verband held a joint foal auction for the first time. The event saw 31 out of 36 young horses sold, with an average price of 12,113 euros. The top price of the auction was 48,000 euros, paid for the Trakehner foal Schwalbenfeuer, while Westphalian foals also reached prices exceeding 40,000 euros.
