British AI infrastructure firm Nscale has secured a $45 billion agreement with Anthropic to provide computing power. The deal, spanning at least six years, focuses on Nscale’s flagship data centre development in West Virginia, USA. The arrangement covers approximately 460 megawatts of capacity and will utilize Nvidia’s next-generation Vera Rubin chips.

This major contract follows Microsoft’s decision to withdraw from a previous agreement for the site. The development of the full Monarch campus, including an on-site power plant, is estimated to cost approximately $71 billion, with $47 billion of that allocated to chips.

Simultaneously, Nscale is reportedly preparing for a US initial public offering (IPO) that could raise as much as $3 billion. Goldman Sachs and JPMorgan Chase are reportedly assisting with the offering, which may occur as early as September. This move comes as Nscale expands its portfolio of multi-gigawatt data centre projects to meet growing AI demand.
