Nscale to acquire AI software startup Anyscale for $1.65 billion

British AI cloud provider Nscale announced a definitive agreement to buy San Francisco‑based Anyscale, the company behind the open‑source Ray framework for scaling AI workloads. The transaction is valued at about $1.65 billion, though financial terms were not disclosed. Anyscale will retain its brand, continue serving existing customers, and its roughly 200‑person team across the United States, Europe and India will join Nscale.

Founded in 2024, Nscale describes itself as a “neocloud” that owns data centres, GPUs and a full software stack, positioning the deal as a vertical integration of infrastructure and workload‑management software. The acquisition is expected to close in the second half of 2026. Nscale raised $2 billion in a March 2024 Series C round, valuing the company at $14.6 billion, with investors including Nvidia, Nokia, Blue Owl, Dell and Aker. Anyscale, founded in 2019 by Ion Stoica and colleagues, reported 70 % sequential revenue growth and was valued at $1.38 billion in a 2022 funding round.
