NSCDC deploys 3,000 personnel in Abuja for Independence Anniversary
The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has deployed 3,000 personnel across the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) to secure Nigeria’s 66th Independence Anniversary celebrations. Ordered by FCT Commandant Dr. Olusola Odumosu, the operation aims to maintain law and order and protect lives and property during the festivities.
The deployment includes specialized units such as the Arms Squad, Female Strike Force, Crack Squad, Agro Rangers, Counter-Terrorism Unit, and the Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear Explosives (CBRNE) Unit. Security efforts will focus on strategic and vulnerable locations, including shopping malls, markets, motor parks, recreational centers, and Critical National Assets and Infrastructure (CNAI).
To enhance proactiveness, undercover operatives have been activated for covert surveillance and intelligence gathering. Additionally, authorities are monitoring identified “black spots,” such as uncompleted buildings, to prevent criminal activity. Dr. Odumosu has instructed all Area Commanders and Divisional Officers to maintain a strong operational presence and remain alert throughout the anniversary period.
