NSCN accuses Government of India of double standards on Naga issue

The NSCN (IM) and NSCN/GPRN have accused the Government of India of maintaining “double standards” regarding the Naga political issue. The groups claim that while India advocates for peace, diplomacy, and the prevention of hostilities at international forums—such as the recent 18th BRICS Summit in New Delhi—it simultaneously pursues a military approach toward Naga political aspirations.

The organizations stated that the Indo-Naga Framework Agreement, signed on August 3, 2015, remains unimplemented eleven years later. They alleged that the central government has chosen “military suppression” over sincere political dialogue.

Furthermore, the groups alleged that the government is using Kuki armed groups as “proxy forces” in the ongoing Manipur conflict to carry out military aggression against Naga communities. Specifically, they claimed the Kuki National Army (KNA) is receiving arms and logistical support from the Indian government and that there is collaboration with the KNA(B) operating from Myanmar to destabilize the region. The groups warned that continued military action and proxy warfare could hinder the ability of Naga leadership to return to the negotiating table.
