NSE CEO warns of AI-driven cyberattack risks to markets

Ashish Kumar Chauhan, MD and CEO of the National Stock Exchange (NSE), has called on stockbrokers to enhance their cybersecurity capabilities to combat the rising threat of AI-driven cyberattacks. Speaking at the ANMI International Capital Market Convention 2026, Chauhan warned that vulnerabilities within individual member firms could jeopardize the integrity of the entire market network.

The NSE is currently reviewing all network components for vulnerabilities. Chauhan proposed that the Association of National Market Infrastructure (ANMI) establish a special task force to identify risks and coordinate responses. He noted that the exchange is prepared to support brokers through workshops and collaboration with regulators.

In addition to immediate AI-related threats, Chauhan highlighted the long-term challenges posed by quantum computing, which could potentially compromise existing cryptographic systems used for secure communications.
