NSE partners with Augmont to promote Electronic Gold Receipts
The National Stock Exchange of India (NSE) has empanelled Augmont Gold Tech Private Limited, a subsidiary of Augmont Enterprises, as a key partner to promote Electronic Gold Receipts (EGRs). This strategic partnership aims to simplify the process of creating and extinguishing EGRs, facilitating the seamless conversion between physical gold and digital receipts within a regulated ecosystem.
EGRs are dematerialized securities representing ownership of physical gold stored in SEBI-accredited vaults. These receipts are fully backed by physical gold and are tradable on the exchange, allowing gold to be integrated into the formal financial system. The collaboration is intended to enhance the digital framework, provide technical and on-the-ground support, and improve price discovery and market participation for jewellers, refiners, traders, and institutional investors.
