NSSF seeks court eviction in Temangalo land dispute

The National Social Security Fund (NSSF) has initiated High Court proceedings to secure full possession of the Temangalo land in Wakiso District, following a nearly two-decade dispute with businessman Amos Nzeyi.

In 2008, the NSSF purchased 463.87 acres of land from Arma Limited and Amos Nzeyi for approximately 11.2 billion Ugandan shillings. Under a Memorandum of Understanding, Nzeyi was permitted to retain roughly 104.88 acres—including a farmhouse and paddocks—on the condition that he provide suitable alternative land to the Fund within six months.

The NSSF states that the alternative land provided by Nzeyi failed to meet the agreed-upon requirements. After a June 30, 2026, deadline passed without a successful land swap, the Fund has moved to seek a court-ordered eviction to reclaim the remaining property. A parliamentary committee inspected the site on August 12, 2026, and noted that farming activities are still ongoing on the disputed land.
