Næssundfærgen ferry provides emergency transport during Vilsund Bridge closure

The Næssundfærgen ferry provided essential nighttime transport between Thy and Mors this week while the Vilsund Bridge was closed for roadwork. During five nights of operation, the ferry transported 71 passenger cars, four ambulances, and three trucks.

Jens Bech-Mogensen, director of Næssundfærgen's Friends, stated that the use of ambulances proves the necessity of a 24-hour connection between Thy and Mors to replace critical infrastructure. Although the nighttime service resulted in a deficit of approximately 15,000 to 17,000 DKK, the association views the decision as a vital community service. Because the bridge closure was announced late, the association was unable to secure financial support in time and is now requesting donations to help cover the costs.
