Néstor Pavón to face new trial for Micaela García femicide

Néstor Pavón will face a new trial in Gualeguay, Entre Ríos, facing charges as a co-author of the 2017 femicide of Micaela García. Previously, Pavón was convicted of concealment and served a five-year sentence. However, following appeals by prosecutors and the victim's family, the Supreme Court of Justice of the Nation ordered a new proceeding to address his alleged direct participation in the crime.

The trial is scheduled to begin on October 29 at the Court of Trial and Appeals of Gualeguay, with eight sessions planned through November. The presiding judges are Santiago Nicolás Brugo, Maximiliano Otto Larocca Rees, and Nicolás José Gazali.

The case remains a significant point of social and legal focus in Argentina, as it prompted the creation of National Law No. 27.499, which mandates gender violence training for all public officials. The victim's father, Néstor García, expressed high expectations for the trial, seeking justice for his daughter and a demonstration of judicial reliability in the province.
