NSU terrorist group legal proceedings continue in Germany

Legal proceedings regarding the National Socialist Underground (NSU) terrorist group continue in Germany, focusing on both key members and their support network. In Dresden, the Higher Regional Court sentenced NSU supporter Susann Eminger to two years of probation. Eminger, who was close to the core trio of Beate Zschäpe, Uwe Böhnhardt, and Uwe Mundlos, received a lenient sentence similar to that of her husband, André Eminger. Critics have noted that the judicial process has largely concluded with only six convictions in the entire complex, despite parliamentary inquiries suggesting a broader support network.

Meanwhile, in Munich, the Higher Regional Court is determining the minimum period of incarceration for Beate Zschäpe. Following her life sentence for her role as an accomplice in ten murders, the court must decide how many years she must serve before becoming eligible for parole. The Federal Prosecutor's Office is seeking a minimum of 25 years, while Zschäpe's defense counsel argues for no more than 20 years, citing that she did not personally commit the shootings.
