NSUI wins student union elections at Garhwal University

The National Students' Union of India (NSUI) secured a victory in the student union elections at the Pauri campus of Hemvati Nandan Bahuguna Garhwal Central University. In the Birla campus, NSUI candidate Mayank Bahuguna won the position of Secretary, defeating the ABVP candidate by more than 300 votes. Additionally, Himanshu Bhandari of the Jai Ho group won the presidency, also defeating an ABVP candidate.

Congress General Secretary KC Venugopal characterized the results as a significant setback for the BJP, suggesting the outcome reflects public dissatisfaction with the party's policies in Uttarakhand. Venugopal predicted that this trend would extend to the Delhi University student union elections and eventually lead to the BJP being removed from power in the 2027 Uttarakhand assembly elections.
