NSW Government opens $1.5m in animal welfare grants
The NSW Government has opened applications for the second round of its Companion Animal Welfare and Rehoming Grant Program. A total of $1.5 million is available to support animal rescue and rehoming organisations across New South Wales.
Eligible registered animal welfare charities and designated rehoming organisations can apply for grants ranging from $5,000 to $50,000. The funding is part of a broader $6 million commitment over four years. Applications for this round close on 9 October.
Grant recipients can utilize funds for various purposes, including desexing, microchipping, vaccinations, animal training, rehabilitation, and facility upgrades. The program also supports community education and emergency assistance during natural disasters. Minister for Local Government Ron Hoenig noted that these organisations provide essential services and reduce pressure on council pounds.
