NSW Labor MP Greg Warren reports himself to watchdog over club donations
Campbelltown MP Greg Warren has referred himself to an electoral watchdog after accepting thousands of dollars in donations from a club that operates poker machines. The donations, received from the NSW Harness Racing Club (trading as Club Menangle) between 2023 and 2025, were made during fundraising lunches that included Premier Chris Minns and Treasurer Daniel Mookhey.
In 2023, the NSW government closed a loophole by banning political donations from not-for-profit clubs involved in gambling, including those with poker machines. Warren stated he accepted the funds ‘in good faith’ because the club had declared it was not a prohibited donor. The club operates a major racetrack and venues containing 50 poker machines. Under current laws, it is a criminal offence to knowingly receive a prohibited donation from a gambling entity.
