NSW Police arrest 732 in joint domestic violence operation

NSW Police, in collaboration with ACT Policing and the Australian Federal Police, have concluded ‘Operation Amarok 14’, a focused crackdown on domestic and family violence (DFV). The three-day operation, which ran from August 14 to August 16, included the Australian Capital Territory for the first time.

During the operation, 732 people were arrested and charged, and 228 arrest warrants were executed. Police laid a total of 1,589 charges and conducted over 12,000 apprehended domestic violence order (ADVO) compliance checks, identifying 546 breaches. Additionally, officers seized 118 firearms and 16 weapons during searches.

Since 2023, the broader Operation Amarok initiative has resulted in more than 9,067 offenders being charged. The recent phase utilized intelligence-led strategies to target high-risk offenders and worked with the Australian Federal Police to extradite individuals wanted for alleged domestic violence charges.
