NSW Police detain disqualified driver for alleged methamphetamine use

Operation RAID methamphetamine disqualified driver traffic enforcement New South Wales

A 19-year-old man, who was already a disqualified driver, allegedly tested positive for methamphetamine while parked on the shoulder of Burrendong Way near Mumbil. The incident occurred on Thursday, September 3, during a patrol by the Orange Highway Patrol.

The man was issued a Future Court Attendance Notice and is scheduled to appear at Orange Local Court on October 22. His driver's licence has been disqualified once more.

The encounter took place during Operation RAID (Remove All Impaired Drivers), a statewide crackdown running from September 3 to September 6. During this operation, police conducted over 6,420 drug tests, resulting in 774 positive samples, and more than 162,027 breath tests, which detected 212 drink-driving offences. In total, authorities issued more than 7,113 traffic infringement notices across the state.
