NSW Police hunt driver in fatal Bega hit-and-run

NSW Police have launched a public appeal and established Strike Force Delor to investigate a fatal hit-and-run in Bega. Authorities are searching for a female driver involved in the incident that claimed the life of 73-year-old Trevor Fleet.

On August 31, 2026, Mr. Fleet and his partner were driving in Bega when they reportedly had a face-to-face interaction with a woman in another vehicle on Newtown Road. Police allege that after the interaction, the woman returned to her car, reversed into Mr. Fleet, and drove away. Mr. Fleet was treated by paramedics at the scene and died from his injuries on September 1.

Detective Inspector Justin Marks stated that the victim was a well-respected member of the community. Police are urging the driver to come forward to provide her version of events.
