NSW projects honored in 2026 Resilient Australia Awards

Several New South Wales projects have been honored at the 2026 Resilient Australia Awards for their contributions to disaster preparedness, mental health, and community resilience. The awards ceremony, held at NSW Parliament House, recognized initiatives designed to help communities navigate the immediate aftermath of disasters and long-term climate risks.

Key winners include Resilient Uki Inc., which received the Community Award for its Northern Rivers Community Emergency Hub Guide. This resource assists communities in Byron and Tweed shires in establishing emergency hubs during the critical first 72 hours of a disaster. Healthy North Coast was awarded for Safe Haven North Coast, a mental health service that supported over 22,000 participants following the 2022 floods.

Other notable recipients include the Wagga Wagga City Council for its Weathering Well social connection initiative, Mission Australia for its work in maintaining essential services during disruptions, and the Aboriginal Housing Office for assessing climate and disaster risks across more than 13,000 social housing homes. Fiona Berry of the North Coast Regional Landcare Network also received a photography award for her work on catchment resilience.
