NSW Rural Fire Service announces Bush Fire Danger Period for Singleton and Muswellbrook
The NSW Rural Fire Service (RFS) has announced that the Bush Fire Danger Period will commence in the Hunter Valley District, specifically within the Singleton and Muswellbrook Local Government Areas, on September 1.
The decision follows a winter period characterized by lower than average rainfall and dry conditions. The Seasonal Bushfire Outlook for Spring indicates above-normal fire potential across parts of northern and south-eastern New South Wales.
RFS Inspector Stephen Kada urged residents to prepare their properties and review bushfire survival plans. The RFS noted that while many residents claim to have a plan, fewer than half have taken physical steps to prepare their properties. During this period, landowners and managers are required to obtain a Fire Permit.
