NTPC Ltd seeks industrial partners for co-generation projects

NTPC Ltd has invited Expressions of Interest (EOI) from commercial and industrial entities to invest in a 26 per cent equity stake in new co-generation projects. These facilities are designed to provide integrated power supply solutions, delivering both steam and electricity to meet industrial requirements.

The proposed projects will utilize a mix of coal, renewable energy, and Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) to enhance energy efficiency and security. By moving toward captive and cooperative generation arrangements, the state-run utility aims to support industrial decarbonization and cost optimization through long-term power supply arrangements.

NTPC currently operates with an installed capacity of over 91 GW, with plans to reach 149 GW by 2032. This expansion includes a target of 60 GW from renewable energy sources, incorporating thermal, hydro, solar, and wind power.
