NTT develops advanced AI voice technologies for elderly care, childcare, and business

NTT has announced several advancements in conversational AI technology designed to support diverse sectors including elderly care, childcare, and customer service.

NTT Data has updated its ‘Voicesta!’ service, which uses generative AI to engage in daily dialogue with elderly users. The system analyzes conversations to visualize changes in lifestyle and emotions, providing care workers with ‘Care Support AI Reports’ to assist in care planning. The company aims to provide this service to 100,000 users by the end of fiscal year 2028.

NTT Docomo has developed AI technology tailored for preschool children. By combining Large Language Models (LLMs) with a database of infant vocabulary development, the AI adjusts its language to match a child's age to encourage healthy habits like tooth brushing and sleeping. An Android app is currently under development for home trials.

Additionally, NTT has developed a bidirectional voice AI capable of natural human-like interactions, such as handling interruptions, nodding, and waiting for the user to finish speaking. This technology can reference external databases and CRM systems to provide accurate information. In tests, the AI achieved an average response time of 0.43 seconds, a 50% reduction compared to other commercial services, approaching the speed of human operators.
