NTT Docomo Business expands IoT NaaS with sovereign AI and Pro features
NTT Docomo Business has announced two major updates to its Network as a Service (NaaS) platform for IoT, ‘docomo business SIGN’.
The first update introduces a sovereign AI environment for the ‘Advanced’ service menu. By directly linking Multi-access Edge Computing (MEC) servers within the company’s communication network with its ‘GPUaaS’ service, the company aims to provide a secure, scalable environment for physical AI. This setup allows for data collection, storage, and AI inference to be completed entirely within the NTT Docomo Business network, addressing concerns regarding data sovereignty, security, and privacy for applications like autonomous driving. This feature is scheduled for release in December 2026.
The second update is the introduction of the ‘Pro’ service menu, designed for large-scale IoT operations. This menu will support the centralized management of tens of thousands of connections and facilitate global deployment across dozens of countries. It includes support for the next-generation IoT eSIM standard (SGP.32), allowing operators to remotely download and switch eSIM profiles. The ‘Pro’ menu is expected to launch in March 2027.
