NTT earthquake: Indonesia to provide free document replacement and reconstruction data

Minister of Home Affairs Muhammad Tito Karnavian has directed local governments in Nusa Tenggara Timur (NTT) to accelerate the collection of data regarding damaged houses, schools, places of worship, and health facilities following recent earthquakes. This data is essential for preparing rehabilitation and reconstruction efforts.

To assist earthquake victims, the Ministry of Home Affairs has tasked the Directorate General of Population and Civil Registration to provide free re-issuance of essential identity documents, including electronic IDs (KTP), birth certificates, and family cards (KK). The ministry noted that because data is digitized and stored on central servers, the process is highly efficient and can utilize face recognition technology.

Additionally, the Minister plans to coordinate with the Ministry of Agraria and Spatial Planning/National Land Agency (ATR/BPN) for land document replacement, as well as with the police to facilitate the re-issuance of vehicle ownership books (BPKB), vehicle registration (STNK), and driver's licenses (SIM) for those affected.
