NTU National Seminar debates Brazilian public transport financing

The 39th NTU National Seminar in São Paulo is addressing the future of public transport financing in Brazil. The event aims to find solutions for recovering passenger numbers lost since the pandemic and competing with the rise of private vehicle fleets, particularly motorcycles used in delivery and ride-hailing services.

Discussions will focus on the new financing model required to ensure urban mobility is sustainable, clean, and technological by 2030. Key topics include the transition to low-emission vehicles and the implementation of the recently sanctioned Legal Framework for Collective Public Transport. A highlighted proposal is the ‘Transport for All’ program, designed to reduce user fare dependency and strengthen transit vouchers.

Participants include federal authorities, members of Congress, and industry specialists. The seminar also features a master lecture by Nelson Barbosa from BNDES and the release of the NTU 2025-2026 Yearbook.
