Nu Mexico to launch full banking services on Aug 6 after migration outage

Digital‑only financial firm Nu México will begin operating as a multiple‑service bank on 6 August. The transition follows a mandatory technical migration on 5 August between 17:30 and 22:00, during which the mobile app and SPEI inter‑bank transfers will be unavailable; debit and credit cards will continue to work and a support phone line will remain open. Nu has notified customers by email and in‑app messages and advised them to complete any transfers or document downloads before the outage. The change upgrades Nu from a Sociedad Financiera Popular to a fully regulated bank, raising deposit‑insurance coverage and allowing a broader product range. With more than 15 million users, Nu expects to become Mexico’s largest digital‑bank user base.
