Nubank credit card delinquency and consequences
For Nubank users in Brazil, failing to pay credit card statements on time triggers several contractual measures. Delinquent accounts are subject to a 1% monthly late fee and a 2% fine on the overdue amount, in addition to IOF (Tax on Financial Operations) and revolving interest rates calculated with daily capitalization.
Prolonged delays can lead to the consumer's name being registered with credit protection agencies such as Serasa and SPC, which may hinder future access to loans or financing. The bank distinguishes between temporary blocking, used as a preventive measure to manage debt, and definitive cancellation, which terminates the credit relationship while the obligation to settle the debt remains.
