Nucelion Therapeutics and VeGen Bio partner for CAR-T cancer therapy in India

Nucelion Therapeutics, a subsidiary of Bharat Biotech, and VeGen Bio have entered a strategic collaboration to develop and manufacture an innovative cell therapy in India. The partnership focuses on the technology transfer, clinical manufacturing, and commercial production of VL-2511, a first-in-class dual BCMA/CD19 autologous CAR-T therapy designed to treat multiple myeloma.

By targeting two proteins, the therapy aims to prevent antigen escape, a process where cancer cells evade treatment by losing specific targets. Nucelion will utilize its GMP manufacturing facility to meet CDSCO, US FDA, and EMA regulatory standards, focusing on process optimization and manufacturing yields to reduce costs and improve access to advanced therapies.

The companies are targeting Phase I/II clinical trials in India, with a goal for commercialization by 2028. The collaboration is intended to serve as a platform for additional cell therapy candidates within VeGen Bio’s pipeline.
