Nucor beats Q2 profit and revenue estimates on higher steel prices
Nucor Corporation reported second‑quarter adjusted earnings of $4.84 per share, surpassing Wall Street expectations of $4.38. The company posted revenue of $10.4 billion, above analysts’ forecast of $10.14 billion.
Profit in the steel‑mills segment, before taxes and noncontrolling interests, rose nearly 85% to $1.56 billion from $843 million a year earlier. CEO Leon Topalian attributed the results to firmer U.S. steel prices, supportive federal trade policies and strong demand across key sectors, which drove a second consecutive quarterly record for steel‑mill shipments.
Nucor forecast continued revenue growth for the current quarter in its steel‑mills and steel‑products segment, expecting higher pricing and strong volumes to sustain performance. Peer Steel Dynamics also reported a jump in Q2 profit, citing record shipments and stronger pricing.
