Nucor issues Q3 2026 earnings guidance below analyst expectations

Nucor has issued earnings guidance for the third quarter of 2026, projecting net earnings between $5.55 and $5.65 per diluted share. While this represents a significant increase from the $2.63 per share reported in the third quarter of 2025, the figures fell short of analyst consensus expectations of approximately $6.20 per share.

The company expects growth in its steel mills and steel products segments, driven by higher average selling prices and stable or increased volumes. Conversely, the raw materials segment is projected to see lower earnings due to weaker pricing and shipments.

Nucor noted that second-quarter results were bolstered by non-recurring items, including a $61 million non-cash gain from a Helion investment valuation and $130 million in cash refunds on prior raw material procurement costs. These benefits are not expected to recur in the third quarter. Year-to-date, the company has returned approximately $1.36 billion to stockholders through dividends and the repurchase of roughly 2.03 million shares.
