Nuevo Laredo authorities warn of heatstroke risks in vehicles
The Civil Protection and Fire Department of Nuevo Laredo has issued an urgent warning regarding the lethal risks of leaving people or pets inside vehicles during high temperatures. Officials noted that interior temperatures can rise by at least 10 degrees Celsius within just two minutes, significantly exceeding outdoor readings.
This summer, authorities have responded to three specific emergencies involving an elderly person, a baby, and a pet who were left in vehicles by family members. In all three instances, the responsible individuals were turned over to the Civil Guard due to the legal consequences of endangering lives through negligence.
Although the peak heat period is expected to subside, officials warn that extremely hot conditions may persist for the next 15 to 20 days and into the autumn.
