Nuevo Laredo customs officials seize $769,755 in hidden cash

Authorities in Nuevo Laredo, Tamaulipas, seized 769,755 US dollars hidden within a cargo shipment at the local customs office. The operation was conducted by the National Customs Agency of Mexico (ANAM) in coordination with the National Guard.

The detection was made possible through the use of a mobile X-ray system, which identified density discrepancies in the goods. This prompted a physical inspection supported by a canine unit, leading to the discovery of 12 packages containing the cash. The seized funds have been placed at the disposal of the Public Ministry for further investigation into their origin and destination.

In a separate incident at the Mexico City International Airport (AICM), the Secretariat of the Navy (Semar), in coordination with ANAM and the Secretariat of Security and Citizen Protection (SSPC), intercepted eight kilograms of a green powder containing coca leaf material. The substance was found concealed inside a bag of dietary supplements labeled as ‘moringa’ arriving from Colombia.
