Nuevo Laredo implements 100% LED public lighting

The municipality of Nuevo Laredo, Tamaulipas, has completed the modernization of its public lighting infrastructure, achieving 100% coverage with LED technology. This initiative includes the installation of more than 36,000 luminaires across streets, avenues, and public spaces to improve energy efficiency and urban safety.

In addition to the LED rollout, the local government is performing specialized maintenance on 38 high-mast systems and has rehabilitated nearly 6,000 luminaires in parks, plazas, and sports courts. The city is also investing over 20 million pesos in a photovoltaic system for the Nuevo Laredo Cultural Center, a project expected to reduce the building's electricity consumption by up to 40% and benefit approximately 7,500 people.

Mayor Carmen Lilia Canturosas Villarreal announced these developments during the Tamaulipas 2026 International Energy Congress, noting that these municipal actions align with the broader energy agenda of Governor Américo Villarreal Anaya to promote sustainable development and technological innovation within the state.
