Nuevo Laredo launches free newborn hearing screening program

The municipal government of Nuevo Laredo is offering a free auditory screening for newborns at the Clínica UNE Nueva Era. The initiative, promoted by municipal president Carmen Lilia Canturosas Villarreal, targets infants from two days old to detect congenital hearing loss early and facilitate timely medical intervention.

The test is quick, safe, non‑invasive, and provided at no cost, but appointments must be scheduled by calling the municipal health department at (867) 711‑3537. The program aims to improve language, communication and learning development for children in the region.
