Nuevo Laredo Planetarium to be named after scientist Annie Pardo Cemo

The Nuevo Laredo City Council has approved a proposal by Mayor Carmen Lilia Canturosas to name the city’s new Museum of Science, Technology, and Planetarium after Dr. Annie Pardo Cemo.

Dr. Pardo Cemo is a highly distinguished Mexican scientist, an Emeritus Professor at the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM), and a 2022 National Science Prize winner. With over five decades of experience in research and teaching, her career serves as a symbol of academic excellence and scientific contribution to Mexico.

Mayor Canturosas stated that the naming aims to connect the city’s major educational and cultural infrastructure project with a figure who represents knowledge and social transformation, intending to inspire younger generations through scientific observation and progress.
