Nuevo Laredo invests in firefighter equipment and sewage infrastructure

In Nuevo Laredo, Mayor Carmen Lilia Canturosas Villarreal has announced a historical investment of over 70 million pesos to strengthen the Heroic Fire Department. The funding will provide specialized vehicles, ambulances, autonomous air equipment, and new fire trucks, alongside the construction of a training field at Parque Viveros. To recognize their service during their centennial year, the 66 members of the department will each receive a 5,000 peso bonus.

Additionally, the Municipal Commission of Water, Potable Water and Sewerage (COMAPA) reports that the rehabilitation of the Colector Ribereño Centro is 94.01 percent complete. This 112.9 million peso project aims to modernize the city's 80-year-old sewage system and prevent wastewater discharges into the Rio Bravo. The project is supported by funds from the Border Environmental Infrastructure Fund (BEIF), provided by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and administered by the North American Development Bank (NADBank).
