Nuevo León launches Mexico's first government digital wallet

The government of Nuevo León has launched NLínea, the first government digital wallet in Mexico. Introduced by Governor Samuel García Sepúlveda during a regional meeting on digital public transformation, the tool allows citizens to store official documents such as birth certificates, permits, and contracts within a single digital file.

The wallet utilizes blockchain technology to ensure the authenticity and integrity of documents, providing users with full control over their information. A key feature of the system is the ability to access documents even without an internet connection.

In developing the platform, the state government followed the European DAS 2.0 framework for digital identity standards. Officials noted that the transition from simple PDF files to metadata-based credentials aims to increase efficiency and transparency in public administration.
