Nuevo León Leads Mexico in IMMEX Job Creation
Nuevo León has become Mexico's top state for generating employment in the IMMEX (Manufacturing, Maquiladora and Export Services) sector, adding more than 400,000 jobs according to INEGI data. The state hosts over 738 IMMEX establishments, far exceeding the national average, and highlights its strategic location, logistics, skilled workforce, and security as key advantages for investors.
State officials emphasized the importance of supporting the roughly 180,000 micro, small and medium enterprises (MiPyMEs) that make up 99.4% of the region's economic units. Programs are being offered to improve competitiveness, provide financing and training, and integrate these firms into larger supply chains, especially as nearshoring drives new investment into industries such as automotive, advanced manufacturing, appliances and information technology.
