Nuhu Ribadu calls for enhanced global cooperation to combat African terrorism

Nigeria’s National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, has called for strengthened global and regional cooperation, intelligence sharing, and the responsible use of emerging technologies to combat terrorism and violent extremism across Africa.

Speaking at the High-Level African Lessons Learned Forum in Abuja, Ribadu emphasized that military operations alone are insufficient for sustainable security. He advocated for a ‘whole-of-government and whole-of-society’ approach that integrates law enforcement, financial intelligence, judicial reform, and strategic communications with community resilience, education, and youth engagement.

Ribadu noted that terrorist groups are increasingly exploiting porous borders, illicit financial networks, digital platforms, and online radicalization to expand their operations. The forum aims to bring together regional delegates and international partners to evaluate transnational threats and strengthen multilateral counter-terrorism architecture.
