Numan Kurtulmuş advocates for independent Palestinian state

Turkish Parliament Speaker Numan Kurtulmuş stated during the 2026-2027 academic year opening ceremony at Batman University that an independent Palestinian state with Jerusalem as its capital will eventually be established and recognized globally.

Addressing the current geopolitical climate, Kurtulmuş criticized Israeli aggression, specifically targeting the actions of Benjamin Netanyahu and his administration in both Gaza and the West Bank. He emphasized that Turkey aims to maintain stability in its region by utilizing diplomacy and negotiation to resolve conflicts.

During his lecture titled ‘Turkey Model, National Solidarity, Brotherhood and Democracy’, Kurtulmuş also highlighted the growth of Turkey’s higher education sector, noting the country's 208 universities and approximately 6.7 million students.
