Turkey to establish parliamentary monitoring commission for 'Terror-free Turkey' process
Turkish Grand National Assembly (TBMM) Speaker Numan Kurtulmuş announced that a monitoring commission will be established within Parliament to oversee the ‘Terror-free Turkey’ process. The commission will consist of representatives from various political parties to ensure the process is monitored on behalf of the nation.
Speaking at an academic opening ceremony in Batman, Kurtulmuş stated that there is a significant determination within the state and the public to end terrorism. He emphasized that the goals of the state and the conscience of the nation have aligned regarding this initiative.
Additionally, AK Party Deputy Chairman Hüseyin Yayman noted that the process is a matter of national democratization and development. He highlighted that significant resources previously spent on counter-terrorism could instead contribute to national per capita income if stability is achieved. The process is expected to involve the surrender of weapons and the evacuation of caves, subject to verification by the National Security Council.
