Turkey's TBMM Speaker discusses 'Terror-Free Turkey' process and monitoring commission

Turkish Grand National Assembly (TBMM) Speaker Numan Kurtulmuş stated that the process to end terrorism is progressing according to plan. During a meeting with Luxembourg House of Representatives President Claude Wiseler, Kurtulmuş noted that negotiations are ongoing with political parties to establish a monitoring commission within the Parliament to oversee the disarmament and dissolution process.

Kurtulmuş emphasized that the model is a unique 'Turkish model' and asserted that no external third-party observers will intervene in its management. He added that Western counterparts are monitoring the 'Terror-Free Turkey' issue with diligence and positivity, viewing it as a step toward regional normalization.

Meanwhile, Yeniden Refah Party Leader Fatih Erbakan expressed support for the process during a visit to Diyarbakır. Erbakan stated that his party's priority is the immediate liquidation of the terrorist organization and the surrender of weapons to ensure peace and tranquility. He confirmed that his party has provided members to the parliamentary commission.

In contrast, members of the Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) expressed reservations regarding the verification of disarmament. MHP officials raised concerns about how the permanent surrender of weapons would be confirmed, questioning whether the organization might rearm after initial displays of laying down arms.
