Erdoğan to attend 81st UN General Assembly in New York

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan is traveling to New York to participate in the 81st United Nations General Assembly, scheduled from September 20-23, 2026. Erdoğan is set to address the General Assembly on September 22, marking his 16th time speaking at the forum. The assembly's theme is ‘Rebuilding trust, managing transformation: A United Nations that produces results for all’.

During his visit, Erdoğan is expected to engage in intensive diplomatic activity, including meetings with UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres and various heads of state. A highly anticipated meeting with US President Donald Trump is also expected to take place to discuss bilateral relations and regional issues. Additionally, Erdoğan plans to meet with representatives of the Turkish diaspora and members of the Turkish-American business community.

Emine Erdoğan will accompany the President and participate in several high-level events. Her agenda includes speaking at the New York Climate Week 2026 opening ceremony, attending the World Economic Forum Sustainable Development Impact Meetings, and participating in a meeting regarding safe digital systems for children. She is also expected to attend a diplomatic event hosted by Melania Trump.
