Nuno Homem de Sá sentenced to suspended prison for domestic violence
The Viseu Court has sentenced Portuguese actor Nuno Homem de Sá to two years and three months of suspended imprisonment for domestic violence against his former partner, Nádia Lopes. The court found that during their relationship between December 2023 and March 2024, the actor caused psychological suffering and endangered the victim's health.
Evidence presented included frequent insults, the victim being prevented from taking medication, and being forced to take cold baths to save gas. The court also noted that the actor controlled the victim's movements and social interactions, which exacerbated her anxiety symptoms. In addition to the suspended sentence, Homem de Sá was ordered to pay 1,750 euros in compensation, prohibited from contacting the victim or approaching her residence and workplace, and required to attend a domestic violence prevention program.
This ruling follows a previous conviction in June by the Torres Vedras Court, where the actor received a three-year suspended sentence for domestic violence against another former partner, Frederica Lima. Defense attorney Alexandre Guerreiro announced intentions to appeal, criticizing the trial's conduct and claiming media influence affected the judicial process.
