Nuno Markl recounts 2025 stroke and son's lifesaving intervention

Portuguese comedian and TV presenter Nuno Markl described two strokes he suffered on 20 November 2025 during an interview on SIC’s “Alta Definição” on 1 August 2026. He said he ignored warning signs of hypertension, felt a sudden loss of function while in the bathroom, and that his dog Chiclete’s sudden jump onto him preceded the episode.

Markl’s son Pedro, then a child, immediately called emergency services (112) and kept his father awake by urging him not to fall asleep, recalling pleasant memories to maintain consciousness. The prompt medical response helped Markl survive the event. He also mentioned receiving hateful messages online after the incident.
