Nuno Vilaranda talks family and childhood books on Argentine radio Reporte Urbano

Portuguese sociologist and writer Nuno Vilaranda was interviewed on Friday, 7 August, by the Argentine radio program Reporte Urbano. The interview was conducted via Zoom and hosted by journalists Silvana Ridner and Griselda Scelato, with psychologist Victor Lennin also taking part.

Vilaranda discussed his literary work focused on family and childhood, mentioning titles such as “Pai, vem‑me ver…”, “Omnia Vincit – Amor: O caminho dos afetos”, and “Os Filhos do (Des) Amor”. He highlighted the significance of bringing stories rooted in Portugal to listeners across Latin America. Reporte Urbano, based in Buenos Aires, is retransmitted by more than 50 stations in eight countries, covering themes of human rights, childhood and family.

The program, declared of interest by the Buenos Aires legislature, has earned several awards, including the Señal Latina prize. Vilaranda, a PhD candidate in Sociology at the University of Évora and researcher at the Centre for Interdisciplinary Social Sciences (CICS), noted the joy of seeing his Portuguese‑origin works reach a broad international audience.
