Nunspeet implements sustainable tourism and new forest management
The municipality of Nunspeet is implementing new initiatives to promote sustainable tourism and update local forest management.
A subsidy of €162,000 from the province of Gelderland has been allocated to Outdoor Centrum Nunspeet for the purchase of two electric eco-cars. These vehicles will be used to lead guided nature tours through the Veluwe region, focusing on ecology, culture, and history in an environmentally friendly manner. This project is part of the Masterplan Nunspeet Poort de Veluwe.
Additionally, the municipality is developing a new forest management plan for its municipal forests, as the current plan is over twenty years old. The new strategy aims to address climate change challenges, such as droughts, storms, and tree diseases, while balancing biodiversity with safety measures like fire risk reduction. Residents are invited to participate in a consultation process via an online survey until October 31 to share their experiences and preferences regarding the local forests.
