Nupur Prasad awarded President's Medal for Distinguished Service

IPS officer Nupur Prasad has been selected for the President's Medal for Distinguished Service. A 2007-batch AGMUT-cadre officer, Prasad is recognized for her versatility, integrity, and institutional vision across various assignments in Delhi, West Bengal, and Arunachal Pradesh.

Prasad is notably recognized for her role in supervising the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe into the death of actor Sushant Singh Rajput. The investigation, which began in August 2020 following a jurisdictional dispute, examined forensic evidence and witness accounts regarding allegations of abetment to suicide and financial irregularities. In March 2025, the CBI submitted closure reports stating that no evidence of foul play or criminal conspiracy was found.

Following her tenure with the CBI, Prasad returned to the Delhi Police and currently serves as the Joint Commissioner of Police in the Economic Offences Wing, overseeing investigations into financial and economic crimes.
