Nuremberg butchers produced 427-meter-long sausage in 1658
Historical records from Nuremberg highlight a centuries-old tradition of butchers creating increasingly massive sausages. In 1658, butchers produced a bratwurst measuring approximately 427 meters in length, equivalent to 658 Ellen. This giant sausage weighed more than five Zentner and was presented on a long pole by twelve butcher apprentices.
This feat was part of a long-standing tradition where local butchers aimed to break previous records. Earlier instances include a 39-meter sausage in 1591 and a 320-meter sausage in 1614.
