Nuremberg completes 72‑hour brass marathon, seeks world record

More than 1,800 brass musicians performed continuously for 72 hours in the Jakobskirche in Nuremberg, aiming to set a new world record for the longest uninterrupted trombone concert. The marathon involved over 140 brass choirs from across Bavaria and was organized by Thomas Engelbrecht of the Bavarian evangelical brass choir association.

The event ran from Thursday morning to Sunday at 9 a.m., with groups rotating every 90 minutes to maintain seamless music. Participants, including evangelic bishop Christian Kopp, reported minimal sleep—Engelbrecht logged only about 7.5 hours over the three days. No technical problems occurred, and the performance concluded with a service attended by many visitors. Documentation has been submitted to the German Record Institute for official verification. The previous German record was a 24‑hour concert held in Hamburg in 2023.
